This project is part of the research area:
In-Situ Remediation Technologies

Carbon disulfide is a chemical commonly used and transported over the world. It is an example of a dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL). Remediation of spills of a DNAPL poses particular challenges. This study investigates remediation techniques for carbon disulfide in the saturated zone.

Preventive soil conservation hence requires:
• Development of process understanding with respect to the fluid-fluid interaction in the subsurface.
• Development of groundwater remediation technologies in the saturated zone taking into account potential scenarios of contamination.
• Adaption of proven groundwater remediation technologies.
• Demonstration of efficiency of the remediation technique on a technical scale.
