Dissolution and precipitation in porous media: modelling, analysis and numerical results
We discuss a pore scale model for crystal dissolution and precipitation
in porous media. Referring first to general domains, we prove existence
of weak solutions. Next, for the particular case of strips we show that
free boundaries occur in the form of dissolution/precipitation fronts.
As the ratio between the thickness and the length of the strip goes to
zero we obtain the upscaled reactive solute transport model proposed
by P. Knabner and C.J. van Duijn.
The presentation is completed by numerical results. These are obtained by a Rothe type discretization method, which is discussed in more details.
