DescriptionIn this lecture, multiphase flow and transport problems in porous media are considered and compared to the corresponding single phase cases. The transition from physical quantities on the microscale to the flow and transport equations on the macroscale is presented. Different numerical discretization techniques are be compared and special emphasis is given to the fully implicit finite volume discretization. Computer exercices including comparisons of single and multiphase flow, the Buckley-Leverett or the McWorther problem are meant to deepen the insight into the subject and to show the practical implementation.
