DescriptionDetailed and physically based hydrologic models require data in high spatial resolution. Such a resolution is often available in larger sampling networks, and hence needs to be interpolated or extrapolated. The part "Geostatistics" introduces methods needed to interpolate spatial data, and to estimate model-parameters and to design or plan a sampling network. The part "Stochastic Modelling" introduces the stochastic analysis of temporal and spatial data-sets, generation of such data-sets, and how to use them for hydrologic modelling.
Learning objectivesThe participants have skills in basic statistical methods used in hydrology, like time series analysis, extreme value statistics, parameter estimation methods and statistical tests.
