description | The Catchment Modelling Framework (CMF) model has been adapted to simulate the effect of soil crack dynamics on water fluxes and water balance based on the soil shrinkage curve. In this master thesis, you will set-up rule-based irrigation scenarios and model parameterizations based on best management practices for different rice-based production systems (traditional anaerobic rice, alternate wetting drying, aerobic rice, rice-maize crop rotation). This set of four simulations will be used to evaluate water balances and water fluxes in these productions systems. Model parameterization and validation will be based on available data from research sites at the International Rice Research Institute at the Philippines.
This thesis requires your willingness to come to and work in the Forschungszentrum Jülich for six months.
