|Beschreibung||For detailed analyses of turbulent flow, stereoscopic PIV measurements (particle image velocimetry) can be applied. Compared to non-stereoscopic PIV, this setup includes two cameras allowing for additional measurements of the third velocity component within the laser sheet. To obtain a complete flow information the location of the laser sheet need to be varied along investigated cross-sections. Additionally, the orientation of the laser sheet can be varied (horizontal instead of vertical laser sheets). Although, several studies have successfully applied stereoscopic PIV to analyze turbulences, still knowledge gaps exists regarding the effect of different bed shapes and bed packing arrangements. Thus, the aim of this study is to investigate the turbulence characteristics in several horizontal and vertical locations for different bed shapes and flow conditions. All experiments will be conducted in the hydraulic laboratory of the IWS.|
The result of this study will provide valuable information about the complex flow field over rough beds and will help to analyze turbulences and vortices in three dimensions.
