Manuela Schorsy studied "Gebäude-, Energie- und Umwelttechnik" at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences from 2017 to 2021. From 2021 to 2024 she studied "Environmental Engineering" at the Univesity of Stuttgart. Her outstanding master's thesis entitled "Vergleich von Regenwasserbewirtschaftungsanlagen zur Nutzung (RWB-N) und verstärkten Regenwasserrückhaltung (RWB+) hinsichtlich ihres Potentials zur Stärkung der Resilienz der Siedlungsinfrastruktur" was supervised by Eduard Rott (Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management).
The work deals with the technical possibilities of efficiently increasing the resilience of urban infrastructures to the consequences of climate change, namely more intensive and more frequent heavy rainfall events and longer periods of drought. The aim of the work was to systematically model different variants of rainwater management systems, to make them comparable under uniform conditions and to evaluate their suitability for strengthening urban resilience.
