Kilian Mouris successfully presented his Ph.D. topic A holistic approach to evaluate the effect of global change on reservoir sedimentation in his Qualifying Exam on Aug. 16, 2022.

Kilian Mouris presented his research results during the Qualifying Exam at the University of Stuttgart on August 16, 2022. The assessment committee, appointed by the Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty of the University of Stuttgart, was composed of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Friedrich as Chairman, PD Dr. Stefan Haun, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Silke Wieprecht from the University of Stuttgart and Prof. Dr. phil. Nils Rüther from the Technical University of Munich.

Mr. Mouris is studying the effects of global change on reservoir sedimentation as part of his doctoral research. For this purpose, the catchment and reservoir processes are simulated using newly developed, objective algorithmic methods and numerical models. The final model chain enables long-term predictions considering different emission and socio-economic scenarios, which are required to implement sustainable sediment management strategies.

Mr. Mouris has already published some of his research findings in a peer-reviewed journal and presented them at several international conferences.

Mr. Mouris passed the Qualifying Exam to the satisfaction of the committee.

The Qualifying Exam was part of the framework of the international doctoral program Environment Water (ENWAT; https://www.enwat.uni-stuttgart.de/).
