Virtual programming lab (ViPLab 2)

Abstract

A platform-independent simulation environment was developed to improve the education in the complex field of numerical simultaion. In cooperation with the TIK, as well as many other institutes which are concerned with numerics, a common interface for the whole university was created. With this system, students are able to log in to the e-learning platform Illias to work on exercises from everywhere - be it the own laptop at home or a working station at a computer pool.
The virtual programming lab is asked to bridge the gap from complicated application of the complex research-code for flow simulation (DUMUX, www.dumux.org, Matlab, C) to understandable and basic subjects in education. Hence, the students can work on real applications and hot topics of current research, which are accessible without technical barriers and through a clear front-end.
This follow-up project aims to improve the integration into the e-learing platform Illias and to automatically check students's solutions. Additionally ViPLab is prepared to be used in exams and to perform long-lasting simulations.
This is a follow-up project to: Virtuelles Programmierlabor (ViPlab)
