Monitoring of suspended sediments during the functional check of a bottom outlet

Abstract

Within the project ,,Monitoring of suspended sediments during the functional check of a bottom outlet" a monitoring concept will be developed and implemented to observe occurring suspended sediment concentrations during the opening of the bottom outlet of a small reservoir. The measurement concept includes suspended sediment concentration measurements as well as discharge measurements (RDI - ADCP und Sontek - FlowTracker) at the two upstream located tributaries (as reference) as well as suspended sediment concentration measurements downstream. Two stations are selected downstream with a distance of 750 m and 2 km from the reservoir. To ensure a complete series of concentrations over time bottom samples, Imhoff-cones as well as turbitidy meters (Hach-Lange) will be implemented. Feeze-panel samples will be collected before and after the opening of the bottom outlet to quantify possible changes of the bed material and so possible occurring colmation effects.
