The numerical simulation of transport phenomena in porous media is quite often based on models utilizing Darcy's law, whereas in free flow regions a (Navier-)Stokes model is used. Of special interest are structures composed of both, porous media and adjacent free flow domains.

So far, the coupling of such domains has been considered only for single-phase systems which have the same dimension. This classical concept is extended to two-component non-isothermal flow with two phases inside the porous media and a single phase in the free flow region. Furthermore, concepts for the coupling of domains with different dimensions are presented. We discuss these models and introduce the corresponding coupling conditions. Moreover, some numerical examples illustrate the coupling between the different model domains.
