Lars Kaiser studied "Simulation Technology" from 2016 to 2024. His outstanding Master's thesis entitled "A Mixed-Dimensional Model for Evapotranspiration from Leaves" was supervised by Timo Koch (Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo) and Martin Schneider (Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems).
The focus of this outstanding work is the modeling of evaporation processes on leaf surfaces, an elementary process in the global water cycle. Transpiration by plants contributes significantly to the return of water from the soil to the atmosphere and thus influences the energy and water balances of entire ecosystems. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of sufficiently detailed, physically based models that can realistically depict the relevant processes.
