Congratulations to Vahid Shoarinezhad for successfully defending his PhD dissertation

Vahid Shoarinezhad successfully defended his PhD thesis on March 27, 2024. The LWW team is pleased to congratulate Vahid Shoarinezhad on his successful PhD defense.

Vahid Shoarinezhad presented his doctoral thesis entitled „ Applying automatic calibration for three-dimensional numerical modeling of hydro-morphological changes in channels and reservoirs” as part of his doctoral examination on March 27, 2024. The examination committee appointed by the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Stuttgart consisted of Prof. Sara Kleindienst as chair, Prof. Silke Wieprecht as main examiner, Prof. Nils Reidar Olsen from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and PD Stefan Haun as co-examiners.

In his work, Mr. Shoarinezhad has developed an automated calibration method for hydro-morphodynamic numerical models. This approach enables us a better and more resource-efficient prediction of hydro-morphological processes in watercourses and reservoirs. Mr. Shoarinezhad has carried out extensive work on the development of the hydro-morphodynamic numerical model SSIIM and the approach for automated calibration during this studies.
