In sunny weather and pleasant temperatures, the excursion led through central stations of the drinking water supply. The group was accompanied by the Technical Director of the Zweckverband Landeswasserversorgung, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frieder Haakh, who provided practical insights into the tasks and challenges of a district water supplier with well-founded explanations.
The programme included a visit to groundwater measuring points in the western Donauried and a groundwater extraction well. This was followed by a visit to the Langenau waterworks, where lunch was served. In the afternoon, the interactive ‘Groundwater Experience’ and the Egau waterworks, including the Buchbrunnen source, were on the agenda.
The participants were given fascinating insights into drinking water extraction, treatment and distribution and learnt lots of interesting facts about the operation and infrastructure of a district water supplier. The excursion was therefore a successful addition to the theoretical training in fluid mechanics.
