Maximilian Kunz is a doctoral researcher at the IWS and he develops sustainable measures to improve the habitat conditions for gravel-spawning fish at the riverbed. To evaluate these measures, he uses two-dimensional hydro-morphodynamic numerical models, which he sets up and calibrates after collecting relevant data in the field. His goal is to bring back rivers to a more natural state.
