Vahid Shoarinezhad successfully held his presentation on Three-dimensional numerical modeling of hydro-morphological changes in channels and reservoirs on 30.01.2020 as part of his Qualifying Exam

Vahid Shoarinezhad presented his research results during the qualifying exam held on January 30, 2020, at the University of Stuttgart. The assessment committee appointed by the Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty of the University of Stuttgart was composed of Prof. Martin Kranert as Chairman and Prof. Silke Wieprecht from the University of Stuttgart as well as Prof. Nils Reidar Olsen from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Mr. Shoarinezhad’s Ph.D. research topic is “Three-dimensional numerical modeling of hydro-morphological changes in channels and reservoirs”. The aim of this work is to investigate hydro-morphological processes by using an advanced numerical model and advanced methods for automatic optimization of the calibration process to gain better knowledge on the processes governing reservoir sedimentation and reservoir flushing.

Mr. Shoarinezhad has published his research findings already at the several international conferences.

At the current stage, the committee evaluated Mr. Shoarinezhad successfully.

The Qualifying Exam was part of the framework of the international doctoral program Environment Water (ENWAT; https://www.enwat.uni-stuttgart.de/).
