Costanza Aricò is Associate Professor of Fluid and Biofluid Mechanics at the University of Palermo, Italy. She studied Civil-Hydraulic Engineering and passed her PhD in 2004 at the University of Catania.
Costanza's main research activities have been focused on numerical methods for fluid dynamic problems. Her research interests concern the numerical simulation of flow and transport problems in fluid and porous media on the continuum scale. Costanza has been visiting our Department in 2022 for six months and started a cooperation with several members of our staff concerning a new one domain model (Brinkman model) for the coupling of free flow and porous media systems.
As a guest of SFB 1313, Costanza will spend a 3-month stay at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems starting on 4th May 2023. Our group is very much looking forward to work with her on the progress of the aforementioned model for potential extension to model heat and solute transport processes.
