Virtual programming lab (ViPlab)

Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems

Project funded by enrollment fees of the University of Stuttgart from 1st July 2009 until 31st May 2013

Description

A platform-independent simulation environment is developed to improve the education in the complex field of numerical simultaion. In cooperation with the RUS, as well as many other institutes which are concerned with numerics, a common interface for the whole university is created. With this system, students are able to log in to the e-learning platform Illias to work on exercises from everywhere - be it the own laptop at home or a working station at a CIP-pool. The virtual programming lab is asked to bridge the gap from complicated application of the complex research-code for flow simulation (DUMUX, www.dumux.org, Matlab, C) to understandable and basic subjects in education. Hence, the students can work on real applications and hot topics of current research, which are accessible without technical barriers and through a clear frontend.
