Dr. Stefan Haun, head of the hydraulic laboratory at the IWS, successfully completed his habilitation at the University of Stuttgart on July 20, 2022.

Dr. Stefan Haun defended his habilitation at the University of Stuttgart on July 20, 2022. Congratulations!

Stefan Haun is a civil engineer and has been head of hydraulic laboratory at the Institute for Modelling Hydraulic and Environmental Systems at the University of Stuttgart since 2019. He received his PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, in 2012 and has been at the University of Stuttgart since 2014. Stefan Haun is Associate Editor of the International Journal of River Basin Management, Vice Chair of the IAHR Flood Risk Management Committee, and was implemented into the elite postdoctoral program of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation in 2019.

On 20 July 2022, Stefan Haun successfully defended his habilitation thesis entitled "Advanced Methods for a Sustainable Sediment Management of Reservoirs".  In his habilitation thesis, he presents how sustainable reservoir management can be achieved in the future through the use of state-of-the-art measurement technology in combination with numerical models.

The habilitation took place within the framework of Faculty 2 of the University of Stuttgart.
