BMBF-DFG-Project: Modelling and Parameterisation of CO2-Storage in Deep, Saliniferous Formations for Dimension and Risk Analyses (CO2-MoPa)

Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems

Funded from 1st April 2008 to 31st December 2011 by BMBF and DFG.

Description

Coupling of Dumux and GeoSys/RockFlow for the verification of the coupled ECLIPSE - GeoSys-model
Within this subproject, coupled software, consisting of the software ECLIPSE and GeoSys/RockFlow packages, which model hydraulic and geochemical processes during the storage of supercritical CO2 in deep saline aquifers, will be verified. Verification will be implemented by coupling GeoSys/RockFlow and Dumux multiphase-multicomponent software. The coupling of GeoSys/RockFlow and Dumux also permits very detailed investigations of the interdependencies between physical and geochemical processes, since implementation can be accomplished very tightly and efficiently. In this manner, various coupling schemes can also be tested and evaluated.
