LIFE-Surfing (SURFactant enhanced chemical oxidation for remediatlNG DNAPL)

Abstract

The EU-project LIFE SURFING aims to demonstrate the field application of a remediation technique for soils containing residual Dense Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (DNAPL) in complex mixtures of multicomponent organic contaminants and POPs.<br>This method will be developed in a demonstration project where well-known chemical oxidation techniques will be combined with the use of surfactants (S-ISCO). The task of VEGAS is the transfer of the technology to other conditions such as hydro-geologic situations and other contaminants. Therefore, medium and large scale experiments will be conducted under well controlled conditions using the special infrastructure available at VEGAS.
